Nike ends golf club production leaving Rory to find new £150m sponsor

Nike has decided to stop making golf equipment.

The sports company is going to - in its words - "transition out" of making clubs, balls and bags.

But the firm says it will keep developing footwear and clothing for those who play the game.

It leaves Rory McIlroy looking for a new manufacturer after he signed a 10-year deal, reportedly worth 150 million pounds, with Nike.

Tiger Woods has also been with Nike since he turned professional in 1996.

Woods has gone more than a year without playing because of back problems, although his agent at Excel Sports Management said he would remain "the iconic ambassador" for Nike Golf, just with a smaller group of products.
