Met Office issues rain and snow warning for Northern Ireland ☃️❄️

Many places in the NW could wake up to a dusting of snow tomorrow

De-icer at the ready, a yellow weather warning for wintry showers and ice is in affect for north-western parts of Northern Ireland, with forecasters warning slippery pavements and travel disruption is likely.

According to The Met Office; "Outbreaks of rain and snow can be expected from late Monday afternoon through to midday on Tuesday. The snow will fall mostly over higher ground, mainly the Antrim Hills with accumulations of 2 to 5 cm possible. Rain or sleet for much of the area, heavy at times with accumulations of around 20 mm, locally 30 mm."

Heavy rain and snow may lead to tricky travel conditions.

A yellow weather warning is in affect covering counties Antrim, Derry~Londonderry, Tyrone from 16:00 this evening until midday Tuesday.

Tonight:

Rain easing off this evening before further persistent rain spreads from the southwest. Some wet snow on hills in the north. Brisk southeasterly winds, gales along the coast. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday:

Widespread rain in the morning, occasionally heavy with some hill snow in the north. Becoming drier from the southwest in the afternoon with a few showers. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Unsettled on Wednesday and Thursday with rain and hill snow at times. Becoming mainly dry on Friday. Staying rather cold.
