Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery in east Belfast on Sunday evening.

Officers received a report just before 11 o'clock last night that a masked, and believed to be armed man went into the shop in the Belmont Road area and demanded money.

The staff called out for help, and the man left empty-handed.

Police say they want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or with CCTV footage that could assist with enquiries to contact detectives.
