Police investigate report of south Belfast robbery

The PSNI launched a probe after dashcam footage of the incident was circulated on social media

Police are investigating a reported robbery in South Belfast on Monday night.

It is reported a woman in her 50s was approached by two men who demanded her wallet and phone in the Fitzroy Avenue area sometime between 8:20 and 8:30.

After the woman crossed the road, the two men approached her again, one of them pushing her against a wall before making off with her phone and wallet towards the Ormeau Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “One of the men was described as being in his 30s and was described as wearing a black jacket, dark jeans and red trainers.

"The second man is described as being aged in his 40s, with dark hair and wearing a green jacket, grey trousers and black trainers.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1658 02/01/23.
