One of the most popular holiday destinations for tourists, Portugal, has been added to Northern Irelands 14-day quarantine list.

Those travelling form Portugal, Hungary, French Polynesia and Réunion will be required from Saturday (tomorrow) to quarantine for 14 days.

The restrictions will take effect from 2am on September 12, excluding Maderia and the Azores.

Meanwhile, Sweden will be added to the Travel Corridors exemption list which means those travelling from Sweden into Northern Ireland will not have to self-isolate.

Sweden will be added to the list from 4am this Saturday.

It follows a similar announcement made by the Department of Health earlier this week.

On Wednesday the Department announced that anyone travelling from Lesvos, Tinos, Serifos, Crete, Mykonos, Santorini and Zakynthos (Zante) would need to self-isolate for 14 days.

The restrictions came into effect at 4am on September 9, however the rest of Greece remains on the Travel Corridors exemption list.
