The DeLorean ‘Endurance’ DMC-12 on display at the Museum of Innovation Exhibition

A revamped version of the iconic DeLorean car from the Back to the Future movies is part of a new exhibition at the Ulster Transport Museum in Cultra.

Open to the public on the 10th July, the spectacle aims to celebrate the local inventors and engineers whose contributions are still used to this day.

This collection is part of National Museum’s NI plan to increase STEM learning and skilld development.

The DeLorean which was first made in Dunmurry has been given a new lease of life with an updated model part of the new exhibition.

Although, it doesn’t stop there!

Among the creators and creations celebrated are Lilian Bland as she became the first woman to develop, build and fly her own plane way back in 1910

The world’s first cardiac ambulance which included a prototype for the defibrillator was developed by Hillsborough man Frank Pantridge will also be on show.

A restored 1960’s Massey Ferguson tractor is set to be on display too. This is an ode to Dromore’s Harry Ferguson who created a part for tractors which changed farming for the better across the world.

The Short Brothers are also celebrated, they were the first aeroplane manufacturers and even invented their own aircraft!

Scottish inventor John Boyd’s pneumatic tyre is also on show. He created the tyre while in Belfast. The tyre which would go on to be used on bikes, was mass produced from 1890 to this day!
