Just as school doors swing open, sunshine and blue skies return! Temperatures are set to rise in the early part of this week across Northern Ireland.

While the heat will likely peak on Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will gradually decline into the weekend.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mark Sidaway said: While the highest temperatures are expected in the south, heatwave conditions are likely across much of England and Wales especially, with parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland also likely to see some unseasonably high temperatures.”

“An active tropical cyclone season in the North Atlantic is helping to amplify the pattern across the North Atlantic, and has pushed the jet stream well to the north of the UK, allowing some very warm air to be drawn north.”

Northern Ireland’s five-day forecast:

According to the Met Office

Today: Any early mist and fog patches soon clearing then it will be a dry day with long periods of unbroken sunshine. Feeling very warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Tonight: A bright and warm evening but soon cooling off after dusk. A dry and clear night with a few mist patches developing. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday: Early mist patches clearing then another dry day with some warm sunshine. A little cooler along the east coast with an onshore breeze. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: A lot of dry weather with some sunshine and feeling warm. Some low cloud and fog along the coasts at times. A chance of a few showers on Thursday.

UK long range weather forecast:

Friday 8th – Sunday 17th Sep: The period begins with another fine and sunny day for most. However, in central and northern areas, sunshine may be limited by areas of clouds, with a possibility of showers or thunderstorms.

Some coastal areas can expect low clouds and cooler temperatures. However, for most, light winds and very warm temperatures are expected while feeling humid as well.
