There's something special about waking up to a covering of the white stuff on Christmas morning. It's been years since Northern Ireland last had a proper white Christmas.

As for this year, the Met Office aren't ruling it out.

The chances of Northern Ireland waking up to snowy scenes on December 25 looks like a distinct possibility.

The latest long-range forecast for Christmas Day on their website states; "There is a chance of more settled conditions, accompanied by frost and fog. Wintriness will most likely confined to higher ground in the north, but there remains a chance of snow temporarily to low levels."

At least one snowflake has to fall somewhere in the UK on the big day for it to be classed as a white Christmas.

Even if we don't see snow, temperatures are still likely to be lower than average for the big day. Watch this space.
