After a brief taste of lovely spring sunshine and mild temperatures yesterday, a spell of very wet and windy weather is on the way, according to the Met Office.

Two separate yellow weather warnings have been issued which will affect Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

"Strong southerly winds will gust 50-60 mph at times, there is the potential for gusts of 70 mph for eastern counties during the morning. Winds will ease during the afternoon."

"Heavy rainfall will be sufficient to bring some flooding in places. Accumulations of 15-30 mm are expected widely with 40-50 mm in a few places, mainly in the south, while the Mourne Mountains could see over 60 mm."

Road, rail and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges may close.

Fallen trees may be an additional hazard. There is a chance that power cuts may occur.

The warnings comes into effect from 2am Tuesday and are valid until midnight.
