Met Office issues yellow weather warning ahead of NYE weekend
Heavy rain is likely to cause disruption and flooding across Northern Ireland

Outbreaks of rain arriving later Thursday evening will become heavy at times overnight and into Friday morning.
The Met Office has now issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across Northern Ireland, it will be in place from midnight to 10am on Friday 30th December.
A statement on the Met Office website explains: "15-25mm will fall quite widely with 30-40mm over some higher ground. Strong southerly winds will accompany the rain, especially around Irish Sea and North Channel coasts where gusts of 50-60mph are likely."

Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
2022 will be the warmest year on record for the UK, according to provisional Met Office figures.
All four seasons have fallen in the top ten in a series which began in 1884 and the 10 warmest years have all occurred since 2003.
With many looking ahead to the bank holiday weekend and new year's eve festivities, we took a closer look at NI's weather forecast.
Today: Mostly cloudy with showers or occasionally longer spells of rain. Drier and clearer weather will spread from the west in the afternoon. Fresh occasionally strong westerly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Tonight: Dry at first this evening. Widespread rain will then spread northeast across all areas overnight, heavy at times. Becoming windy with strong south to southwesterly winds, gales along east coast. Minimum temperature 3 °C. ****
Friday: Rain, locally heavy, clearing from the west in the morning. Then a bright day with a few showers. Very windy along the east coast at first. Maximum temperature 9 °C. ****
Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Chance of some rain at times on Saturday, mainly in the morning. Dry, bright on Sunday. Mainly dry on Monday although some rain possible in the west later.****
