Storm Kathleen to bring strong winds this weekend across NI

Low pressure will bring windy conditions and continued showers, especially in Ireland.
A yellow severe weather warning for wind has been issued for the whole of Northern Ireland and the west coast of England, Wales and southern Scotland. The warning is in force from 8am to 10pm on Saturday.
Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected quite widely within the warning area, with the possibility of 70 mph gusts in exposed coastal locations, especially in eastern Northern Ireland.
Chief Meteorologist, Dan Suri, said: “Storm Kathleen will bring strong gusty winds to western areas of the UK through Saturday. Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are expected quite widely, while some exposed spots, particularly in coastal Northern Ireland, will see 60 to 70 mph gusts with large waves also expected.
Northern Ireland five-day forecast:
Today: Dry at first with some early brightness. Otherwise a cloudy day with showers spreading northeastwards this morning, becoming more frequent this afternoon, dying out this evening. Southerly winds strengthening later today. Maximum temperature 14 °C.
Tonight: Dry at first with a few clear spells. Then cloudy with persistent, heavier rain crossing all parts overnight, then drier weather returning by morning. Much milder with southerly gales developing. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
Saturday: A much brighter and also milder day with sunny spells and blustery showers. Strong to gale force southerly winds, possibly severe gales for a time along Down and Antrim coasts. Maximum temperature 15 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Sunny spells and blustery showers on Sunday with strong southwesterly winds. Cloudy on Monday with outbreaks of rain, clearing later on Tuesday.
