It's gonna be a dry weekend too!

The summer was off to a flying start back in June, with temperatures hitting the high 20s.

According to Met Office statistics, Northern Ireland had its wettest July on record, and August wasn’t much brighter.

The last day of summer might feel more like winter, but the start of meteorological autumn looks more like summer.

We’ve got blue skies and sunshine on the way just as the schools reopen.

The Met Office have suggested that; “Many parts of the UK should begin this period with mostly dry conditions and some sunshine and light winds.”

It looks like we’re in for a dry but cloudy weekend, with temperatures hitting 21°C, and staying that high throughout the start of next week.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Steven Keates, said: “High pressure will build across much of the UK this weekend, bringing fine, dry and settled conditions for many.

By early next week, the remnants of Hurricane Franklin will help to push warm air northwards towards the UK, and with high pressure remaining close by, probably just to the east of the UK by this time, further warm and often sunny weather looks probable, at least through the first part of next week.

This week stargazers were treated to a second lunar spectacle, the first time in five years that two supermoons have appeared in the same month, a rarity astronomers don't expect to see again until 2037.
