Yellow weather warning issued for Northern Ireland this week

What a way to start the summer holidays - the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain affected parts of Northern Ireland this week.

Between 5am and 10am on Thursday 30th June up to 20-30mm of heavy rain is expected within a few hours, which would be enough to bring some flooding to prone spots.

Counties Antrim, Armagh and Down are most likely to be affected.

What to expect 👇

- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

Northern Ireland four day forecast:

Today: Rather a cloudy start then brightening with sunshine. Scattered showers breaking out during the morning with the odd heavier shower possible in the afternoon. Feeling warmer with light winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C

Tonight: Showers mostly dying away with some late sunshine for most places and light winds. More cloud building in the east in the morning and possibly some heavy showers around dawn. Minimum temperature 11 °C

Thursday: Early showers tending to clear and a lot of sunny weather for the morning. A few more isolated showers developing in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C****

Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Continuing the showery theme on Friday and Saturday and possibly quite windy too, some sunshine too. Perhaps turning more settled on Sunday****
