Yellow weather warning continues this week across Northern Ireland

Thunderstorms are likely to develop later this afternoon and early evening across Northern Ireland.

Heavy rain, lightning and hail is possible, some places could see 20-30 mm of rain in 1 hour with a small chance of 40-60 mm in 2-3 hours.

A yellow weather warning is in place from 2pm to 10pm on Monday 10th July.

What to expect 👇

🌧 A small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

⚡️ Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

💦 Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

🏠 There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

Today: Some bright spells this morning. Otherwise a rather cloudy day with scattered showers, some longer spells of rain developing this afternoon. Rain may turn heavy in places. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight: Rain at first this evening, heavy in places, will clear away north. Then the rest of the night will be mostly cloudy with a few showers, perhaps heavy. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Tuesday: Some occasional brightness otherwise a rather cloudy day with scattered showers, occasionally heavy in the afternoon. Warm in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Remaining unsettled on Wednesday and Thursday with sunny spells and a few showers. Drier on Friday but chance of rain later.
