France are into the semi-finals of Euro 2016 – after ending Iceland’s brave fight in their first-ever competition.

The host nation were simply too good on the night – winning 5-2 with goals from Olivia Giroud (2) Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann.

Iceland’s Kolbeinn Sigthorsson pulled one back and then struck again late on through Birker Bjarnason.

But it was too little too late for a side that dumped out England in the knockout stage.

France will now face Germany on Thursday for a place in the final.
