Glens against Ballymena abandoned due to rain as Ports draw with Glenavon

Glentoran's Danske Bank Premiership match on Friday night with Ballymena United was abandoned due to heavy rain at the Oval.

An intense downpour before kick-off, led to referee Lee Tavinder taking the sides off the pitch. After waiting 10 minutes, officials decided the game could not proceed and was abandoned after 16 minutes. The score was 0-0 at the time.

Meanwhile Portadown and Glenavon drew 1-1 in the Mid-Ulster derby at Shamrock Park. Oisin Conaty put the hosts ahead before Mark Haughey levelled.

Meanwhile in Saturday afternoon's matches, Carrick Rangers edged out Crusaders in a thriller 4-3. Cliftonville eased past Newry City 4-0. Linfield edged out hosts Dungannon Swifts 1-0. Larne against Coleraine was an evening kick-off.
