Glens beat 10-man Linfield as Larne remain top of the League

A second-half brace from Danny Purkis helped Glentoran to a 3-0 Danske Bank Premiership win over Linfield on Friday night.

Michael Newberry was sent off for two yellow cards in the first half with Bobby Burns breaking the deadlock on 48 minutes.

Purkis made it 0-2 on 76 minutes, before hitting a third in injury-time.

However, Larne remain league leaders. They won 4-0 against 10-man Cliftonville.

Lee Bonnis notched a five-minute hat-trick at Inver Park. Paul O'Neill had opened the scoring for the Invermen.

In Saturday afternoon's matches, Coleraine lost 2-1 against Ballymena United.

Dungannon went down 3-0 against Carrick Rangers, whilst Glenavon were edged out 3-2 at Crusaders.

The Saturday evening kick-off sees Newry City travel to Portadown.
