Meet Jack McIvor – the golden boy of the Green and White Army.

The footie-mad teenager from Portadown is now the envy of Northern Ireland fans everywhere after a chance catch-up with his hero Jonny Evans.

Young Jack was singled out by Jonny in the Parc des Princes stands as the players praised tens of thousands of fans immediately after being knocked out of EURO 2016 by Wales.

Big-hearted Jonny not only said ‘thank-you’ for the support, but handed star-struck Jack his customised boots with ‘Evans’ emblazoned on the side.

“It was the perfect ending to a really disappointing result,” Jack said. “I couldn’t believe it when I got Jonny’s boots – it was a dream come true.”

Jack will be off to the Super Cup NI competition soon after being picked to play for County Armagh’s junior team.

He’d been hoping to play in Jonny’s boots – but they’re big boots to fill!

At size 12 he may have to simply keep them as a souvenir…
