Portugal are the first side into the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

They beat Poland last night 5-3 on penalties – with teenager Renato Sanches the star performer.

The 18-year-old who is about to join German giants Bayern Munich in a big-money move, scored the equaliser to take the game into extra time.

On the night Portugal’s superstar talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, was disappointing – having missed a number of clear-cut chances.

His Polish counterpart Robert Lewandowski – one of the world’s top strikers – finally found his shooting boots in this competition when he scored after just two minutes.

But in truth, the game did not live up to expectations – and always looked to be heading for penalties.

Portugal now face the prospect of either Wales or Belgium in the last four.

The Belgians are second in the world rankings, but Chris Coleman’s men are unbeaten in their last three games against them.

They face each other later in Lille.
