Ballymena have secured second place in the Dankse Bank Premiership – and a spot in next seaseon’s Europa League.

A 4-3 win over Glenavon made sure of their highest finish since 1980.

David Jeffrey's side are now in line for a cash windfall of at least £200,000.

At the other end of the table, Newry City lost 2-1 away to Institute to leave them on the brink of relegation.

That is because Ards beat Dungannon Swifts 1-0 – and are now three points ahead in the race to avoid the drop.

Coleraine

Elsewhere, Coleraine (celebrating above) beat Crusaders 4-2 as the Irish Cup finalists played a fourth game without a win.

And champions, Linfield, thumped Cliftonville 5-1 at Windsor Park.
