Danske Bank Premiership play-offs: first blood to the Ports in town derby

Portadown will take a one-goal advantage into the home leg of their Danske Bank Premiership promotion/relegation play-off .

They beat Championship side Annagh United, 3-2 at the BMG Arena last night (Tuesday) - after trailing 2-1.

Goals from Stephen Murray and Lee Upton, both ex Ports players, put the Annagh in the driving seat after Howard Beverland's opener from a Craig Taylor free kick, for the visitors.

Then in the second half goals from Stephen Teggart (pictured below) and Billy Stedman sealed the win.

On Friday the two sides will face each other again in the decider a couple of miles away at Shamrock Park.

Portadown found themselves in the play-off after a disappointing season in the Premiership during which they finished second from bottom on 25 points - 9 points adrift of safety.

The Annagh, meanwhile, ended up second in the Championship behind Newry City, who grabbed the automatic top-flight promotion place.
