Kyle Lafferty is set for crisis talks with Michael O’Neill after pulling out of Northern Ireland’s next two Nation League games.

The Rangers striker had been included in the 25-man squad to face Austria on Friday and then Bosnia next Monday.

But in a curt two-line statement released through the Irish FA, O’Neill said Lafferty had ruled himself out of the games in a phone call to him late on Sunday night.

He said: “Kyle Lafferty called me late on Sunday night to tell me that he would not be travelling on Monday to join up with the Northern Ireland squad as expected.

“I am disappointed that he has ruled himself out of the two games but our focus is on the players who are with us and I will address this situation after the international period."
