Glentoran’s assistant boss Gary Smyth says there’s a new buzz about the Oval at the moment.

“You have to reel back to where we have been for the last few years,” he said.

Now sitting with a game in hand sitting in joint third you’d definitely have broken your arm off for it.”

Smyth was speaking as a guest on our latest BetMcLean football show, in association with NIFL, now available to view (see link below) on Cool FM's Facebook page or to download as a podcast.

During his playing days, Smyth helped the Glens win a haul of trophies that included two Irish League titles.

He says the club is getting back to where it needs to be.

“It’s good to get back – we can’t be lingering around the bottom for ever – we have to come back and the supporters have been great,” he added.

Also guesting on this week’s show is the Danske Bank Premiership’s youngest boss, Warrenpoint’s Stephen McDonnell.
