The Danske Bank Premiership’s youngest manager says he should be judged on experience not age.

And Stephen McDonnell believes his Warrenpoint side have the right mix to be successful in the top-flight.

“We have got a lot of experience in the squad and people always ask me how do a I manage these guys,” he said.

“But the reality is they’re going to judge you on what you know about football and your organisation.

“If you get those things across in the right manner you get the buy-in.”

McDonnell was speaking on our latest BetMcLean football show, in association with NIFL, which is now available to view on Cool FM’s Facebook page (see link below) and via our podcast.

He vows to stick to his principles of how the game should be played even if it might mean some results not going their way.

“We understand what we are doing – we have recruited players to play the brand of football that we believe in,” he said.

“I suppose we have got three results in a row now – one win takes us into mid-table – that’s the reality of it."
