Everything you need to know about Cool FM's Evanna Maxted

Evanna has grown up listening to some of the voices she now works alongside with on Cool FM. Perhaps the stations #1 fan, Evanna is living her childhood dream as she takes to the mic at the weekend on Cool.

Since joining the family in the summer of 2021, Evanna has supported with the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal and co-hosted the breakfast show alongside her idol Rebecca McKinney on International Women’s Day.

"I'm a Cancer, which might explain why I love the emosh lovey-dovey Cool Goes Quiet 😂"

What school did Evanna go to?

"I went to Strathearn School and got 3 A-levels in Media Studies, Drama & Theatre Studies and English Literature.

"I then went to study Television and Radio Production in the heart of Media City Manchester, at the University of Salford - it was amazing! It pushed me to get my foot in the door in the media industry and accumulate lots of fab work experience."

How did Evanna get into radio?

"Whilst studying radio production at uni, in first year I had my own show on Manchester's biggest student radio station, Shock Radio, called 'Shock Goes Quiet'...is that copyright? 😂 Told you I've come from being one of NI's biggest Cool Goes Quiet fans.

"When I came back home, I visited the station in hope for some work experience and here's where I first made my connections with Cool FM/Downtown! September 2019 I got the amazing opportunity to join the Downtown Breakfast team for a week on air with Gary and Glen which was so much fun. Thank you David Coleman!

"While finishing off university during the pandemic, I became increasingly motivated to chase my presenting dream at Cool FM. After sending demos, showreels and then moving back home, they brought me in for training over summer 2021 (I couldn't get to sleep the night before I was that excited). Chase your dreams! Life's too short not to."

Does Evanna have any pets?

"I have a 12 year-old Cocker Spaniel that we rescued 10 years ago called Pia, though she's still as crazy as a puppy! Fits in just right with the rest of us Maxted's."

Who is Evanna's favourite singer and why?

If you listen to Evanna's show at the weekend, you'll soon realise she has lots of favourits.

"I will always be a Swiftie at heart. Especially for her older country-style music as she tells a story within each song, they're like poems. Taylor Swift was the first artist I ever became obsessed with at 11 after hearing 'Love Story' for the first time!

Little Mix (girl power duh?) Ariana Grande (the voice of an angel) and any old-school RnB (Chris Brown, Usher, Rihanna) are my favourites to sing-a-long to. Doja Cat's music has become a new favourite too!"

What's been the best gig Evanna has been to?

"I went to Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman Tour in Dublin 2017 and waited outside 3 hours to get second row standing - so worth it!"

What's Evanna's favourite karaoke song?

"Ain't No Other Man - Christine Aguilera or Lady Marmalade with the girls. Both as sassy as possible.
