Pete Snodden, Paulo Ross and Rebecca McKinney from Cool FM’s Breakfast show took on a colossal challenge last year in aid of our station charity Cash for Kids NI.

And today the team have received an IMRO Radio Awards nomination within the Community and Social Action Category.

The team paddle-boarded over 22 miles from Scotland to Northern Ireland last June, which took a gruelling nine hours to complete, with little rest, many blisters and unforeseen choppy weather conditions in between.

Oh and let’s not forget, they were also chatting LIVE from the Irish sea on the radio all day too!

Together, with the team’s loyal listeners, they helped raise over £20,000 for local children and families in Northern Ireland, impacted by the spiralling fuel and cost of living crisis.

Speaking about today’s IMRO nomination, Bauer Media Audio NI’s Content Director Stuart Robinson said: “We’re delighted for Pete, Paulo and Rebecca.

“They’ve had a brilliant year already, fresh off the back of their Breakfast show becoming Northern Ireland’s most -listened to radio show. #1 in the radio ratings is no mean feat. So this a timely acknowledgement for the great work that the team put into their show each and every morning.

“When Paulo first mentioned he would love the guys to paddle from Scotland to Northern Ireland on the show, it was a far-out idea and hadn’t been done before. It was ground-breaking, both mentally and physically tough, but was all for a great charity – Cash for Kids NI.

“The team thoroughly deserve this nomination and we can’t wait to hear what’s next”

CONGRATULATIONS PETE, PAULO & REBECCA
