Last month Toblerone announced they would be changing the shape of the well-known triangular chocolate bar.

Since the announcement in mid-October the news has remained low-key until now, when for some unknown reason the chocolate bar has started trending across social media and people are not happy!

In the Facebook announcement makers of Toblerone, Mondelez International said that due to rising costs, "we have had to reduce the weight of just two of our bars in the UK."

The new-look Toblerone sees the number of triangular pieces reduced in what was the 400g and 170g bars, reducing them to 360g and 150g respectively.

This was not welcome news to fans across the UK who have taken to Facebook and Twitter blaming the news on anything from Brexit to the US election.

While Mondelez have said that this change is "not a result of Brexit" they have not confirmed or denied whether the shape of the chocolate bar will be changing in Europe.
