Who says romance is dead?

Five-year-olds Freddie and Dee Dee have a very close friendship, so much so that Freddie went to the effort of saving up his pocket money to take his 'best friend in the world' out for a meal.

The pair have known each other since they were tiny as their mums shared ante natal classes and over the years their friendship has blossomed.

According to Dee Dee's mum Katy, an invite arrived in the post, then with a tiny bouquet of flowers the pair turned up to the restaurant where they had a table by the window.

"They’re both huge PizzaExpress fans" said Freddie's mum Nina, "it seemed like the obvious (and fun!) place for them to go.

"It was just the cutest trip out ever, and it was so wonderful to see them have such a great time."

Talking after the date Freddie said he'd love to take Dee Dee on another date "because she's beautiful," while Dee Dee was more interested in the food saying "I really enjoyed going on a date with Freddie – especially the hearts on our ice cream!"
