Motorists in Galashiels are being warned of more misery ahead.

This week Scottish Water began work on replacing sections of pipe in the Tweed Road area of town, which we're told will lead to 14 weeks of disruption.

And, this afternoon (Friday), Scottish Borders Council has announced more delays are likely in the town centre, as Scottish Power carries out emergency works.

Three-way traffic lights are in operation on High Street, Bridge Place and Island Street - with traffic already queuing onto Bank Street, Hall Street and Ladhope Vale since they were first put in place earlier this week.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "These works will be in place over this weekend (April 15/16th) due to a second fault being discovered.

"The temporary traffic lights are being manually controlled from 7am to 7pm each day to keep disruption to a minimum."
