A man who admitted touching a young boy in the Borders inappropriately has been given a 12-month home curfew, ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work, and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

Colin Finlay, from Duns, was just 19 or 20-years-old when he induced the child - then aged 11 or 12 - to climb into a sleeping bag with him back in 2003.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court heard his victim reported the incident to police 18 years later due to the impact it was having on his life.

Finlay, now 40, previously admitted using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards a young boy in the Scottish Borders and sentence was deferred until this week.
