Man in court following seizure of 1,775 Etizolam tablets in Borders

A man's appeared in court in the Borders in connection with the seizure of 1,775 Etizolam tablets.

The Class C drug - also known as street valium - was found at Barry Johnston's former home at Whitefield Crescent in Newtown St Boswells on January the 26th, 2021.

The 42-year-old, now living in Galashiels, admitted being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, shortly before his case was due to go to trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court this morning (Tuesday).

Fiona Hamilton, prosecuting, revealed the street value of the haul was anything between £354 and £1,260.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports.
