Dolly Parton says she has no intention of retiring ❤️
She's got a new album and a new book out this year
Country music legend Dolly Parton joined Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits Radio to talk about her new album 'Rockstar', her book Behind the Seams, and how at the age of 77 she has no plans to retire.
Dolly has had an amazing career starting way back in the 50s. Since then, she's had success with songs such as 'Jolene' and 'Islands in the Stream' with Kenny Rogers.
Despite being known for her country music, following her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dolly will soon be releasing a rock album, featuring some very famous names, including Elton John, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and Bon Jovi legend Richie Sambora.
Speaking to Ken, Dolly opened up about reuniting the remaining Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. "I wasn't thinking in those terms (of a reunion)," Dolly explained. "I had Paul, and then I thought wow, let's get Ringo to replace the drums that we did. Because, I had already done the tracks."
It's a busy year for Dolly, not only is she set to release her first rock and roll album, she's also releasing a book called Behind The Seams My Life In Rhinestones. As Dolly explained the book chronicles her whole career.
"I've been at this 60 years now, I started like when I was 10 years old," she explained. "And so I've got six decades of music and clothes behind me... hair dos, and it just kind of shows all the transitions all through the years of what I've worn and talking about it."
With such a busy year, Dolly confirmed she has no plans to stop working, telling Ken: "I would never retire! I would hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday - and hopefully one I’ve written - but that’s how I hope to go. I don’t have much of a choice in that but in the meantime, I’m going to make hay while the sun shines."
She continued: "I’m not touring anymore, but I will continue to do special shows here and there now and then like a long weekend or festival shows. But as far as touring I think those days are pretty much behind me... you have to stay gone so long on a tour to make it productive and prosperous and that’s a lot of time at my age – I ain't got no years to waste!"

Elton, who has just launched a new eyewear range said: "I just love wearing glasses, and even though I've got 20/20 vision, I still wear glasses because I feel naked without them."
