Surrey Police say they will continue to meet the challenges of the coronavirus regulations as Surrey moves into tier two next week.

In a statement officers urged residents to play their part in preventing the spread of the virus, adding: “We thank them for their high compliance with the restrictions since the first lockdown was imposed on 23 March.

“We know that this is a challenging and unprecedented time and that everyone is doing their best to adapt and follow the rules in place for everyone’s safety and we are confident that the high levels of compliancy will continue.”

The force said they would continue to engage with local communities using the “well-established policing approach of engaging, educating and explaining”.

But they added they would still be prepared to enforce where people show a blatant disregard for the rules.
