It's hoped that York will be able to meet the national target of vaccinating everyone over the age of 50 with their first dose by the 15th of April.

Nimbuscare say they're "working hard towards this target", having first set up the centre on the 18th of January with a goal of 1,200 vaccines a day.

In a statement, Nimbuscare said: "We encourage everyone to book in for their Covid jab. The NHS priority groups are changing week by week as we successfully vaccinate millions of people.

"We are on target to vaccinate everyone over 50 with their first dose by 15th April which is fantastic news.

"Both local and national services at the Vaccination Centre will be working hard towards this target and here is York we are getting through vaccines quickly.

"The national NHS booking system’s criteria is changing as we work through the priority groups. Indeed, letters are now going out across the country to people 60 – 64 (priority group 7) inviting them to book their jabs.

"The local service at Askham Bar, alongside our satellite GP clinics, are currently working hard to vaccinate people in priority group 6 – this includes people aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions.

"Everyone on GP practice learning disability registers - around 300,000 people in England – has been added to priority group 6.

"We are working quickly to get through this group of patients – vaccinating thousands of people over the next few days".
