Swedish singer Zara Larsson was on the amazing line-up at Hits Live Birmingham on Saturday 4th May, along with Louis Tomlinson, Ellie Goulding, The Vamps, James Arthur, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Walker, Mabel and HRVY.
As Zara's boyfriend Brian H Whittaker is from just outside of Birmingham, Hits Radio presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford wanted to test the Swedish singer on her British slang knowledge... and it's fair to say she could do with more practice. 🙈
Check out Zara's responses below:
'Throw a wobbly': "When someone wobbles… Is that like when they’re tripping? Like a fall, like physically when you take a tumble?"
'Bob’s your uncle': "If Bob’s your uncle, it sounds rude, is it nice? Is Bob your uncle?"
After Sarah told Zara the real meaning, the singer said, "Well there you go, that doesn’t make any sense to me but when I walk on stage can I say that? Everyone will think at least she tried!"
'Taking the biscuit': "Is this a censored version of taking the p-ss? Maybe we’ll leave that one out."
'Spanner in the works': "When something great is going on, like we’re in the works with it?"
'Sandwich short of a picnic': "That makes sense to me - maybe you’re a bit unprepared or didn’t bring enough whatever it is to the table."
Zara was then given the real meaning, to which she responded, "I thought it made so much sense in my head! It makes complete sense now, like all the horses are not in the stable, that’s a version."
Maybe Zara's boyfriend Brian could teach her some more British phrases for her next visit? 🙈
