Here in the North East we certainly know how to produce good talent! Some of the most famous faces on the planet, whether it be TV stars, musicians or sporting legends, were all born and raised around the North East!

Sam Fender

Singer-songwriter and BRIT Award winner Sam Fender was born and raised in North Shields.

Ridley Scott

Ridley Scott, who director films such as Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator and Robin Hood, was born in South Shields.

Ant and Dec

Perhaps the two most ICONIC Geordies on the planet... Ant and Dec! Both boys were born in Newcastle and are loved across the world.

Rowan Atkinson

Rowan Atkinson, who plays the character Mr. Bean was born in Consett!

Jade Thirlwall

She's gone on to achieve worldwide success in Little Mix, but Jade Thirlwall was born in South Shields! As well as having a bar in her hometown called Arbeia, Jade is also an Honorary President of South Shields FC.

Perrie Edwards

Jade's Little Mix band mate Perrie Edwards was also born in South Shields! Despite living just miles apart, the girls didn't know each other before they met on The X Factor.

Sting (AKA Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner)

Legendary singer Sting, real name Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, was born in Wallsend.

Former X Factor winner James Arthur was born in Middlesbrough.

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl lives in London now, but she was born and raised in Walker and Heaton with her family.
