The fantastic Mae Stephens joined Sam Thompson on Hits UK this week and revealed how her collab 'Mr Right' with Meghan Trainor came about. The 'If We Ever Broke Up' singer had success earlier this year with her song which went viral on TikTok, and resulted in a comment from none other than 'All About The Bass' singer Meghan Trainor!

Mae revealed to Sam on Hits Radio how Meghan commented on her video, and the pair ended up sending a couple of DMs before having a FaceTime conversation, where Mae admitted she told Meghan loads of times that she loved her.

"It was very quick how it happened," Mae explained. "You know, it started with the TikTok comment. Literally just a comment and then she DMed me and she was like ‘Ohh Queen Mae' and I was like this is Meghan Trainor. This is Meghan Trainor in my DMs, what is going on?!

“I left it for about 25 seconds and then immediately replied with a bunch of I love yous. I think I must have told her I loved her about 50 times and I wasn't even drunk. It was all sober! We ended up sitting on FaceTime and she was showing like her house and stuff.”

Mae, who has now been announced for Hits Live Birmingham, on Friday 24th November, also opened up about her incredible rise to fame, and how she went from working at ASDA to working with Meghan Trainor, The Chainsmokers and Alok in a matter of months.

"It was the weirdest month of my life," Mae admitting, talking about earlier this year. "Like, I went from haggling with some 'Karen' over a 30p bag of apples, to signing a record deal."

Mae has now released her latest song 'Jungle' with The Chainsmokers and Alok, saying that Alok was a great guy to work with. "(He's a) brilliant guy. So sweet. Such a sweet person".
