A brand-new Stan Tracey Trio album is due to be released
The previously lost and unreleased recording is a snapshot of the 1950s London jazz scene

A previously unreleased record from the Stan Tracey Trio is set to see the light of day.
The 1959 Sessions - which was originally intended as a follow up to Little Klunk (1959) - features the late-great British jazz pianist and vibraphonist, together with Phil Seaman on drums (with Tony Crombie on the first four standards) and Kenny Napper on bass.
The album sees a mixture of standard tunes and original material.
The record gives a snapshot of the London jazz scene in the late 1950s, with whom Tracey and his contemporaries - such as Ronnie Scott, Joe Harriot and Tubby Hayes - helped form.
Having remained lost for sixty years on 1/4 inch tapes, the recording was recently discovered by accident when a studio was clearing out old tapes, at a time when 1950s British jazz has become a much sought after commodity.

The Stan Tracey Trio's previously unreleased The 1959 Sessions will be available via ReSteamed Records on the 28th of January 2022.
