The multi-award-winning pianist, producer and composer Robert Glasper recently talked to us before performing at Hackney Church, in London.

Whilst speaking to Nigel Williams, he revealed that it wasn't until he stepped into the R&B and hip hop worlds, and the success that brought him, that the jazz world really began to notice his music - particularly the "jazz police".

During the conversation, he said, "...people in the jazz world, they weren't going to understand Black Radio. They didn't understand Black Radio... it wasn't a jazz record per see. It was an R&B-hip hop record with sprinkles of jazz".

Alongside winning the Grammy Award for 'Best R&B Album', Glasper was also awarded the 'Cutting Edge Award for Jazz Innovation' at the 2013 Jazz FM Awards.
