Watch Foo Fighters perform Metallica classic with 10-year-old fan

Foo Fighters covered Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ with a 10-year-old fan at their Kansas City, Missouri gig on Friday night (12th October).
The Foos had just returned on stage for their encore at the Sprint Center when Dave Grohl invited the young boy called Collier Cash Rule on stage and asked him if he knew how to play guitar.
After Collier confirmed he could indeed play guitar, Dave asked “What do you know?”, to which Collier responded “I know a lot of Metallica songs.”
To a rapturous response from the 19,000 capacity crowd, the boy then launched into the opening riffs of Metallica’s 1991 classic ‘Enter Sandman’ alongside Foo Fighters with Dave taking on James Hetfield’s vocals.
Pausing the performance after a minute, Dave then asked Collier if there were any other Metallica numbers in his repertoire – he then played snippets of ‘Welcome Home (Sanitarium)’ and ‘Wherever I May Roam.’
Suitably impressed with Collier’s embryonic talents, Dave poked fun at Ed Sheeran who was playing Kansas City the following night, saying “Ed Sheeran ain’t got nothing on Collier.”
In an ultimate gift, Dave gave Collier his guitar after the performance and joked “If I see that s*** on eBay next week, I’m gonna find you, Collier.”
Earlier this month, the surviving members of Nirvana – Dave, Krist Novoselic and touring member Pat Smear - reunited at Foo Fighters’ CalJam Festival in San Bernardino, California.
Tearing through six Nirvana classics, the band were joined by John McCauley of Rhode Island alternative rock band Deer Tick who took on vocal duties for the opening three tracks ‘Serve the Servants’, ‘Scentless Apprentice’ and ‘In Bloom’.
Having previously performed with her at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and subsequent secret gig, Joan Jett then sang vocals on ‘Breed’, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and ‘All Apologies’, the latter of which also featured Brody Dalle on bass with Krist playing accordion.
