Slipknot have confirmed they will release their fervently awaited sixth studio album on Friday 9th August 2019.

The Iowan masked metallers began teasing an announcement at 5pm today (4th March) last week by launching their website - www.wearenotyourkind.com – which featured the date 8.9.19 once mobile users shared their location.

It’s now been confirmed that this is indeed the release date of the follow-up to October 2014’s ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’.

Slipknot will also be supporting the album release with a sprawling 29-date Knotfest Roadshow North American tour, which kicks off on Friday 26th July at Mountain View, CA’s Shoreline Amphitheater and continues through Sunday 8th September, where it concludes with a show at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX.

Joining Slipknot at all dates are Volbeat, Gojira and Behemoth. Each pair of tickets purchased online for Slipknot's 2019 tour comes with a digital copy of the new album.

Preceding the US tour and album release, Slipknot, of course, headline Download Festival on Saturday 15th June.

They appear on a weekend bill that also boasts Def Leppard, Tool, Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Smashing Pumpkins, Trivium, Halestorm, Slayer (their final UK show), Rob Zombie, Simple Creatures and many, many more.

Tickets to Download Festival are on sale from Kerrang! Radio Tickets now.
