Former Blink-182 star Tom DeLonge has received a coveted honour for his investigations into UFOs.

The musician and aliens aficionado, who releases his first non-fiction book about UFOs called Sekret Machines: Gods on 7th March, was named UFO Researcher Of The Year by UFO website/YouTube channel Open Minds TV.

In his acceptance speech, which you can watch below, Tom said: “Thank you for acknowledging some of the hard work I’ve been putting in to some subject matter that concerns us all and that you’re passionate about, just like I.

“It’s been a crazy whirlwind of a year or two. There’s a lot that I can’t say but some that I can. I’m so appreciative that I’ve been acknowledged for this stuff but I’m not done.

“I’m just like you guys. I spent 20 years up all night, reading about Roswell, Dulce, Serpo, Churchill, the crashes here, Nazis building craft there, Antarctica, what’s on Mars, what’s on the back of the moon, anomalous structures. I mean, I’ve done it all. I know it all.

“I kind of use some of my notoriety to do something pretty ambitious and it worked.”

Tom also said he will be making a big announcement in “the next 60 days” and admitted he has some “big sh*t planned”, adding: “I need you guys to come along for the ride… If you come along for the ride, it’s going to be pretty fantastic.”

Co-penned by occult expert Peter Lavenda, Tom’s book Sekret Machines: Gods is based on interviews with intelligence officers, scientists, engineers and military officials.

It’s not Tom’s first foray into writing about aliens. Last year he released a fiction book called ‘Sekret Machines: Chasing Shadows’ that he co-penned with writer AJ Hartley.

‘Sekret Machines: Gods’ is the first of a trilogy and will be followed by ‘Sekret Machines: Man’ and ‘Sekret Machines: War’.

Last October, Tom hit the headlines when leaked emails from Hillary Clinton's US election campaign team showed that he contacted an advisor on the subject of UFOs.

Among the plethora of emails released by WikiLeaks were at least two messages from DeLonge to Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta about the phenomenon of unidentified flying objects and extra-terrestrial life.
