Ozzy Osbourne announces first US performance in four years

Ozzy Osbourne has announced details of his first solo live performance in the United States in almost four years.
The Prince of Darkness will perform live during halftime of the Los Angeles Rams’ game versus Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium on Thursday (8th September / 1:20am 9th September UK time), which kicks off the 2022 NFL season.
Ozzy’s halftime show at the American football game will feature medley of his greatest hits, and the performance takes place on the eve of the release of his new studio album ‘Patient Number 9.’
Aside from a performance with Post Malone at the AMA Awards in November 2019, Ozzy’s last proper solo show in the US was at Ozzfest at The Forum in Inglewood, California in December 2018.
Just two months after undergoing ‘life-determining’ surgery in June to realign pins in his neck and back, Ozzy performed live at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony with his former Black Sabbath band mate Tony Iommi.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Ozzy, who also has Parkinson's disease and emphysema, says the surprise performance of ‘Paranoid’ has given him some optimism for the future.
“Since I had my (first neck) surgery and everything got f---ed up, it’s been three or four years since I’ve performed,” Ozzy said. “And I was thinking it’ll never happen again. But that show’s given me a bit of hope.”
Looking forward to his No More Tours 2 UK trek in 2023 with Judas Priest, Ozzy vowed: “I’m saying to you I’ll give it the best shot I can for another tour. You have not seen the end of Ozzy Osbourne, I promise you. If I have to go up there and die on the first song, I’ll still be back the next day.”
‘Patient Number 9’ is released on Friday 9th September and it boasts collaborations with Tony Iommi, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Zakk Wylde, Eric Clapton, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, the late-great Taylor Hawkins, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction.
