Since the moment the sixth season of Line of Duty drew to a close way back in May 2021, it's fair to say that fans have been left wanting more. Following a pretty divisive season finale, we've been picking up on every clue we can about a potential seventh series of the hit show.

Now, just months after THAT hint from Martin Compston, show star Vicky McClure, who plays Kate Fleming, has shared a promising update about a seventh season of Line of Duty, giving us the glimmer of hope we all needed.

In an interview with The Guardian, the actress was of course quizzed on whether or not we can expect another series of Line of Duty, to which Vicky responded: "I don't know! I don't know, there's no word of it."

The show star then offered us a promising update as she continued: "I think we've all been really honest and said should that happen, we're all game.

"I'll just stick with the guys. I think when it comes to a close, it will be a natural close for us all."

Despite there being no confirmation that the sixth season of the show would be the last, showrunner Jed Mercurio told BBC Breakfast in 2021 that there were 'no plans' in the works for a series seven - however didn't rule out the notion.

This isn't the first time that a show star has teased us with a series seven update, with Steve Arnott himself, AKA Martin Compston, hinting upon accepting the Special Recognition NTA: "We genuinely don't take this for granted and who knows, maybe we'll be back again..."

We're keeping our fingers crossed! 🤞
