Joel Corry reveals how quickly he and Becky Hill wrote their hit 'History'
He also revealed which Love Islander he would couple with

Number 1-selling dance DJ Joel Corry joined Fleur East, James and Matt on Friday 5th August to celebrate the release of his new song 'History' with Becky Hill. During the chat he revealed how quickly the pair wrote the song, told us about appearing on Love Island and which Islander he would pick! 😮
The 'Head & Heart' singer has been teasing a collab with pop star and BRIT Award-winner Becky Hill for quite a while now, and finally we get a chance to hear it!
Joining us at Hits Radio, Joel admitted that the song was written nearly a year ago in September 2021. It was the first time the pair had properly met, but that didn't matter as Joel explained they hit it off really quickly.
"It's the collab that people always said to me needed to happen," Joel admitted. "We finally got into the studio together last September, and I hadn't really met Becky, only in passing at shows."
He continued: "You know when you just click with someone instantly? I was like 'oh my god', this is definitely someone I want to work with, the chemistry was perfect between us and within half an hour in the studio session we were already into the idea of 'History'."
Joel went on to explain how he just felt that was the song. "This is going to stick!" he said: "I had this vision in my head of 'Joel Corry, Becky Hill, 'History''. The whole thing just felt really strong and bold and powerful to me."
The DJ then explained how they wrote the lyrics together in the room and: "Everyone can relate to the lyrics in this song."
Joel also spoke about appearing on this year's series of Love Island, after his song 'Sorry' became a massive hit when it appeared on the 2019 series. In the episode the Islanders had the chance to leave the iconic villa to head over to a VIP party at Vibe Club.
Which Love Islander would Joel Corry couple up with?
Now that he's been on the show, albeit it to perform, we wanted to know which Islander caught Joel's eye, and after quite some deliberation he decided on this year's Love Island winner Ekin-Su.
Although the DJ admitted he didn't have a chance to watch the show this year because he's been on tour, so his sister came to the rescue and gave him a "Love Island briefing" before he appeared on the show.
When did Joel first tease a collab with Becky Hill?
It was way back in November 2021 when Joel first told us he had some bangers with Becky backstage at Hits Live Liverpool!
"I feel so lucky right now," he said. "That I'm able to work with these amazing talented artists and I'm just having the time of my life back in the studio and listen, Becky Hill, first of all, the queen of dance music. Finally, we got this year together. I don't know why it took this long. But it was worth the wait."
Then, earlier this year the pair shared some pics together sending the rumour mill into overdrive as fans were left guessing if or when the two would be releasing their collab, with Joel also teasing "sometime big" at Hits Live.

There's been loads of highlights over the Summer really, Ibiza is amazing, it's my favourite place in the world, so to watch it go off over the has just been incredible."
2020: Joel Corry releases 'Lonely'
'Lonely' was released on 24th January 2020 and it has been very successful for Joel.
'Lonely' reached Number 4 in the UK charts, the single has also been certified Gold in the UK moving 400,000 units!
It has also had more than 10 million views on YouTube since it was released in January 2020.
