Tyler West: Take a look back at the KISS presenter's Strictly Come Dancing journey

BBC entertainment show Strictly Come Dancing was different gravy in 2022, as KISS presenter Tyler West took part in the series!
That's right, our very own Tyler stepped out of the KISS studio and into the Strictly ballroom, as he performed for nine amazing weeks before his elimination alongside partner Dianne Buswell during Blackpool Week.
When did Tyler get eliminated from Strictly?
Sadly, Tyler and Dianne lost their place in the competition during Week Nine, as the show took over Blackpool.
After getting a score of 35/40 and finishing joint fourth on the leaderboard, Tyler found himself in the bottom two for the second week running.
Following a dance-off against Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, judges Craig, Motsi and Shirley chose to save Molly, meaning Tyler's Strictly journey was over.
After the show aired on Sunday 20th November 2022, Tyler shared an emotional message to fans on social media.
Did Tyler West go on the Strictly tour?
He sure did! Just days after his elimination, Tyler confirmed his Strictly journey wasn't totally over, by revealing he's signed up to go on the official Strictly Come Dancing tour.
Sharing footage of himself on a roller coaster in Blackpool, Tyler told fans online: 'So it’s happening… @SCD_Live_Tour I am SOOO excited 🕺🏽🪩 this is my genuine reaction.. see ya soon 💫❤️🪩🕺🏽.' (sic)
The tour took place across the UK between January and February 2023, with Will Mellor, Ellie Simmonds and Fleur East also signing up. Tyler danced with his partner Dianne and when their time together was almost over he shared a sweet tribute on his Instagram.
Sharing photos and videos from their Strictly journey, he wrote: 'This one’s tough I can’t lie. One more dance to go. Never been a dull day with this girl. She genuinely is incredible, inspires so many, is loved by so many all around the world and changes lives. From our first dance on tele to arenas infront of thousands, As you can tell by the last photo no one’s ready for the end but anyone that supported tydi from the start we love you & thankyou ❤️'. (sic)

Week Nine: For Blackpool Week, Tyler and Dianne performed a Salsa to a KC & The Sunshine Band Megamix by KC & The Sunshine Band.
Week Eight: Tyler and Dianne performed a Paso Doble to 'Unstoppable' by E.S. Posthumus.
Week Seven: Tyler and Dianne performed a Viennese Waltz to 'I’ve Been Loving You Too Long' by Seal.
Week Six: For Halloween Week, Tyler performed a Cha Cha Cha to 'Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)' by Tanz Orchester Klaus Hallen.

Tyler gets announced for Strictly
Tyler announced he's signed up for the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing on Monday 9th August. He said: "I am SO gassed to be joining the Strictly family! As I started writing this I already got cramp. It's going to be one crazy incredible journey which will no doubt be SO far outside my comfort zone. It's a show that means so much to me and my family and I can't wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor… with a side of sequins."
Tyler discovers his pro partner
During the pre-recorded launch show on Friday 23rd September, it was revealed that Tyler had been paired with Australian professional dancer Dianne Buswell.
Week One: Tyler and Dianne perform an American Smooth
During their first live performance on Saturday 24th September, Tyler and Dianne performed an American Smooth to Harry Styles' track 'Falling'. The received a score of 22 out of 40 from the judges.
Week Two: Tyler and Dianne perform a Jive
Tyler performed his first up-tempo dance in Week Two, a Jive to 'Hit The Road Jack' by Buster Poindexter. Following the first vote off, Tyler and Dianne made it through to Movie Week.
Week Three: Tyler and Dianne get the first 10s of the series
Performing a Charleston to 'Flash, Bang, Wollop!' from the movie Half a Sixpence during Movie Week, Tyler was the first celeb to score two 10s! After receiving a huge score of 38/40, Tyler topped the leaderboard an sailed through the Week Four.
Week Four: Tyler and Dianne perform the first Couple's Choice
Dedicating the dance to his mum, Tyler and his partner Dianne performed the first Couple's Choice routine of the series, to an insane Garage mega mix. The pair finished in third place on the leaderboard with a huge score of 37/40.
Week Five: Tyler and Dianne perform a Tango
To celebrate the BBC's 100th anniversary, Tyler and Dianne performed an intense Tango to the Doctor Who theme tune. Although Tyler's score wasn't as good as previous weeks, the pair still made it through to Week Six!
Week six: Tyler and Dianne perform a special Halloween Cha Cha
Going all out for Halloween Week, Tyler dressed up as the spooky character Beetlejuice, and took to the dance floor with Dianne to dance the Cha Cha to Tanz Orchester Klaus Hallen.
The judges were impressed, with Anton saying it was: "One of the best Cha Cha Chas" he had seen on the show and he also gave them a 10! Overall they scored 35/40.
Week Seven: Tyler and Dianne perform a Viennese Waltz
Tyler slowed things down in Week 7 with a stunning Viennese Waltz to 'I've Been Loving You Too Long' by Seal. Despite finishing 8th on the leaderboard with a score of 29, Tyler and Dianne made it through to Week 8.
Week Eight: Tyler and Dianne find themselves in the bottom two
Following their performance of a Paso Doble in Week 8, Tyler and Dianne were in the bottom two alongside Tony Adams and Katya Jones. Although Tyler was ready for a dance off, Tony was forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury, meaning Tyler made it through to Week 9.
Week Nine: Tyler and Dianne take on Blackpool
Showing off his moves during the iconic Blackpool Week, Tyler performed a Salsa to a KC & The Sunshine Band Megamix by KC & The Sunshine Band. The pair scored 35/40, finishing joint fourth on the leaderboard.
Week Nine: Tyler and Dianne are eliminated
After finding themselves in the dance-off for the second week running, Tyler and Dianne were eliminated from the show after the judges chose to save Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu. Tyler posted an emotional message to fans after the show.
Tyler performs in the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour
Tyler was back in his dancing shoes before long as the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour kicked off in January 2023. With 31 shows throughout January and February all over the UK, Tyler performed alongside many of the 2022 contestants including partner Dianne and the Strictly judges.
Who was Tyler paired with on Strictly?

As the news of Tyler's Strictly appearance broke on Monday 8th August, he said: "I am SO gassed to be joining the Strictly family! As I started writing this I already got cramp. Tyler later told us: "To my KISS family, you’re on this journey with me, I am so gassed to be representing and putting in the graft on that dance floor each and every week.
"And to pretty much everyone, thank you for the support and I hope I do you proud."

What inspired Tyler to take part in the show?
Tyler said: "I can’t believe it. It’s always been a massive thing in my family - my mum, my auntie and my nanna's favourite show. Knowing how much the show means to my mum made it a no brainer when I got the call!"
Does Tyler like dancing?
Tyler told us he's a huge dance fan, saying: "The vibe and energy. Put me on a dance floor at a wedding with some old school anthems playing and we’re living our best lives. It brings everyone together and is something to completely switch up your day or mood."
Does Tyler West have any dance experience?
Tyler said: "I dabbled in some street dance in an after school club when I was younger. I always got put at the back because I was ’tall’. After some time to reflect on the videos I don’t think that’s the reason."
Who did Tyler think his biggest competition was on Strictly Come Dancing?
Tyler was well aware he would have stiff competition throughout the series.
He said: "Ellie’s won gold, she’s competitive. Matt's got the charm. Kaye’s a legend. I have no idea what any of their dance abilities are but I reckon everyone is going to smash it.
"My biggest competition first of all will be me trying not to trip over my size 12 shoes."
Which dance was Tyler West most excited about on Strictly Come Dancing?
Tyler told us: "I’m excited about anything high energy, I eat way too much Biscoff so I’ve got the energy in the tank."
Which dance was Tyler West most nervous about?
Tyler added: "I’m a bit nervous about dances like the Waltz - the boujee ones where you have to keep your frame looking good. Although this is great practice for my future first dance if I get married."
Did Tyler West get training from Jordan & Perri?
We are all a big family here at KISS, so you'd think KISS Breakfast presenters Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely would be keen to help out Tyler. However, it sounds like Tyler wasn't too confident in the boys...
He told us: "Jordan and Perri are like annoying brothers. They will probably be on the wind up teaching me moves that don't exist. Jordan told me if I need any dance tips, don’t ask them, so I got the memo!"
