Who is Tyler West?

Tyler is a TV presenter, radio host and DJ who got his start presenting children's TV. He has since presented a number of shows including Celebrity Ex On The Beach, Blue Peter, Flat Out Fabulous and the 2020 EE BAFTA Film Awards Red Carpet Live Show.

He has also been a presenter on KISS since 2019, and clearly we're not the only ones who think he's great as he was nominated for an ARIA for Best New Presenter in 2020!

Where is he from?

He was born in Sutton in South London.

How did he get into radio?

After having his very own podcast called 'The Every Day Hustle', Tyler demo'd for KISS and the rest is history!

Explaining how he got here, Tyler said: "KISS called me up to try out radio and I was BUZZING. I've always been DJ but never hosted a radio show so it was dream come true."

Tyler and WaterAid

Tyler has supported WaterAid for a long time, taking to his socials back in March 2023 to share his experience at the Wullinkamma school in Gambia. Sharing a touching video of his visit on World Water Day, Tyler wrote: 'Today is World Water Day. Something that might shock you is that in 2023, 1 in 10 people still don’t have clean water close to home.

'When I first went to the Wullinkamma school in Gambia over a year ago, amongst many other things, this school didn’t have access to running water.

'I’ve seen myself how difficult life is for these kids without access to clean water, which is something a lot of us don’t even think about in our day to day lives.

'It is mad tough for everyone right now, but on World Water Day it’s a perfect time to take a moment to think of the things which I’m seriously grateful for and I’d love it if you can do the same 🫶🏽 You can learn more by visiting @wateraid 💦💙'.

Then, in November, Tyler shared a series of pictures and videos from a trip he took to Zambia with WaterAid, gushing: 'Such a special week in Zambia @wateraid

'I can’t wait to share this story ❤️🇿🇲🙏🏽'.

What is Tyler's favourite thing about presenting?

Tyler told us: "The fact you can make make people feel something whether that's laughing, smiling, crying, it's great to be that extra voice in their life."

What’s Tyler's fave thing about his show?

Revealing what he loves most about his show, he said: "I love that ANYTHING can happen on my show. Expect the unexpected. From rogue phone calls and massive competitions to music that might make you wanna go out out on a school night."

What vibes is Tyler bringing to his show?

Tyler promises to deliver: "Energy, I'm your friend that you always invite to the motive. It's the home straight BABY, the final leg of your day and I've got gotchuuuuu."

Tyler is a huge fan of 'Big City Life' by Lude.

What album can he listen to on repeat?

It's 'College Drop Out' by Kanye West.

What is one track that never gets old no matter how many times you hear it?

Tyler went with Robin S - 'Show Me Love'.

What single moment stands out for you at KISS?

Throwing it back to his first year at KISS, Tyler said: "KISSTORY Festival 2019. In the sunshine watching Fatman Scoop scream into the crowd!"

In 2023, it's fair to say another stand-out moment for Tyler was his 24 Hour KISSTORY Rave for Cash for Kids! From Wednesday 26th April - Thursday 27th, Tyler danced and DJ'd his way through the challenge, raising money for kids across the UK get through the cost-of-living crisis.

As he danced on and took to the decks, Tyler was even surprised by visits from his mum, brother and even girlfriend - Strictly co-star Molly Rainford!

If you could co-host with one celebrity in the world, who would it be?

"Margot Robbie because I think she'd be good at it but she’s also stunning," Tyler revealed.

What’s your perfect night in or out?

Choosing a night out, Tyler said: "Dinner and drinks, then onto the dancefloor till the early hours of the morning."

Who’s your all-time fave guest you’ve interviewed? And why?

In August 2022, Tyler interviewed the one and only Idris Elba, and it clearly left an impression! He answered: "Idris Elba - cause he's a KING, they say don't meet your heroes but I did and it was magical."

If you could be eternally stuck in one music era, which would it be? And why?

Surprisingly, Tyler went for the 80s with the reason "because they are the tunes that bring everyone together."

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

If a film about Tyler ever comes out he would want Michael B Jordan to star as him "cause I like to think we're twins."

During his time on Strictly, Tyler joined Jordan and Perri on KISS Breakfast and got an emotional surprise! After Tyler explained that appearing on Strictly was a dream for his family with his mum and late nanna being big fans of the show, the boys revealed they had brought Tyler's mum and best friend Sam into the studio.

Tyler revealed the exciting news to Jordan and Perri, where he confirmed exactly how he told his mum that he'd signed up for Strictly.

Where did Tyler West finish on Strictly Come Dancing?

It was announced back in August 2022 that Tyler had signed up for the 2022 series of BBC entertainment show Strictly Come Dancing, and we were SO excited!

Tyler was paired with Australian pro dancer Dianne Buswell, and the pair wowed with some INCREDIBLE routines. Sadly, Tyler's journey came to an end in Week Nine when he and Dianne ended up in the dance off against Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, who the judges chose to save.

Despite scoring an impressive 35/40 in his final performance, Tyler was the eighth celeb to be eliminated from the series. After the show, he posted an emotional message on Instagram reflecting on his Strictly journey.
