Dance Queen Becky Hill joined Hits Radio Breakfast with Fleur East, James and Producer Matt to talk about her new single 'Side Effects', her new era of music and why she's decided to put her wedding on hold, a year after getting engaged.

It's been over a year since Becky has released a solo hit, so with 'Side Effects' now out, it seemed the perfect time to ask the singer about this new era and where she sees her music going.

When asked by Fleur what's been doing over the last year, she responded: "I did a little thing with David Guetta and Ella Henderson ('Crazy What Love Can Do'), I did a really little thing with Joel Corry ('History'), and then all sorts of stuff! Writing an album, a new album, which will be fun and then getting the label to do as they're told! Which has actually been easier than I expected."

The BRIT Award winning singer then went on to reveal: "I'm so excited about the next phase of my life, and of my career. It's really fun, it's like I've kind of decided that the Becky Hill project was a little bit too rounded, when I entered this year, and I was like, considering I love listening to horrific jump up drum and bass I should probably start reflecting some of that gnarliness in my music.

"I wanted to get a bit edgy," she admitted, continuing: "I want to do a bit of edge, I mean I don't know if you can call 'Side Effects' that edgy, but I definitely think it's a little bit more... I think it's a bit cooler personally."

With her new music having a happy vibe, the singer admitted: "I don't know if my fiancé decided to give me some help last year, or whether god just thought she's got a writing camp, she needs inspiration! So there's another single this year called 'Outside of Love'. Which is quite self explanatory isn't it?"

Why is Becky Hill's wedding on hold?

Becky has previously revealed that she's decided to put her wedding plans on hold, while she works on her album, so the team wanted to know more.

"I really need to make sure this next album works, to work out what kind of wedding I can have, and what kind of life I can have after it!" Becky explained.

"This is my literal future, I'm 30 next year, if it doesn't go well this year it's... in the music industry it's never given to you, like any minute, the rug can be ripped from under your feet. It's like the least secure job, I think we definitely all saw that through lockdown and stuff.

"I just want to make sure that this album goes well, and then I can kind of relax a little bit, and do some life stuff."

Aww Becky, we're pretty sure you won't be going anywhere soon!
